Drivergent Transportation is a Metro Detroit school transportation company looking for motivated, experienced school bus mechanic who want to join our team.

As a Vehicle Dismantler and Shop Helper for Drivergent Transportation, you will play a critical role in our maintenance team. The Dismantler is responsible for properly removing all high-quality vehicle parts and usable core parts in a safe, efficient, and proper manner. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who must work in a fast-paced environment, a hardworking, dedicated vehicle dismantler who can successfully meet production quota.

Excelling at this position you must be able to multitask, communicate well with others, and have hands-on vehicle repair experience with a knowledge of vehicular operations. This person needs to be very goal-orientated and willing to work at a very fast pace while maintaining the quality and accuracy outlined in the job expectations.

Additionally, this role will also support and assist our vehicle maintenance team, as well as a variety of other general shop related activities.

General Responsibilities

The Dismantler is responsible for properly removing all high-quality vehicle parts and usable core parts in a safe, efficient, and proper manner. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who must work in a fast-paced environment, a hardworking, dedicated vehicle dismantler who can successfully meet production quota.  Additionally, this role will also support and assist our vehicle maintenance team, as well as a variety of other general shop related activities.
 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Dismantle vehicles within the suggested time constraints in a safety-conscious manner.
  • The dismantling and removal of parts must be done in a manner to ensure the part can be reused in proper working order.
  • Draining all fluids in the proper areas and disposing of them, to we have no contamination.
  • Label and tag parts to be placed into stock.
  • Check the quality and product type of the parts.
  • Clean parts after removal as directed
  • Sort, organize and store parts in designated area
  • Maintain and protect all utilized tools
  • Other duties as assigned
Specific Requirements
  • Meet all general qualifications for employment.
  • Pass drug and alcohol screening as established by company.
  • Meet company standards for criminal history check.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to physically perform the following duties with or without accommodation: Operate a variety of automotive machines, mechanics tools, and equipment.  Utilize hand and power tools safely and correctly.
  • Must be able to use body members to work; lift, push, pull, move, or carry heavy objects or materials.
  • Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 35 to 50 pounds of force frequently. Must be able to lift and/or carry weight of 50 to 100 pounds.
